By Kevin Smith and others

Last summer, the collegiate roller hockey community lost a legendary member of the family and one of its own: a friend, a teammate, a coach, an administrator and overall good guy. His name was Ian Christopher Prescott. Ian got his first taste of college roller hockey as a freshman at Northeastern University in 2007 and got more involved starting around 2010. Many know Ian through his work on podcasts and recap videos -- Prescott was one of the original founding members of NCRHA Coast 2 Coast and ECRHA Gameday, instantly becoming a “fan favorite” media personality across the league. In reality, it was just one of the many things Ian did within the world of Collegiate Roller Hockey.

While attending Northeastern University in Boston, Ian revived a roller hockey program that had taken a hiatus since his freshman year, building it back from the ground up and winning the 2010 ECRHA Division 4 title his Junior year. After moving the team up to D2, playing the next season and eventually graduating, Prescott worked in Boston, applied to grad programs and took over behind the bench for the Huskies. In his first year, the Huskies had a winning record, yet barely missed the cut for Nationals. The following year was another story. With Prescott leading the Huskies from behind the bench, Northeastern would roll all the way to the final day of the 2013 Nationals and into the Division 2 National Championship game - a heartbreaking loss to UCCS. The following fall, Northeastern moved up to D1 and Ian moved to Tucson to attend grad school at The University of Arizona.

The "Remembering the Mamba" article features a continuation of the tribute above from Kevin Smith, plus memories from 9 different co-workers, teammates and friends.
