Arizona State Avenges Loss With CSU Fullerton Defeat

Two 1st period goals give Arizona State revenge on their overtime loss to CSU Fullerton the previous day.  Just 55 seconds into the game, ASU's Chase Steele started the scoring, and added a 2nd goal midway through the first. The Sun Devils took a 2-0 lead into the 1st intermission, outshooting the Titans 9-4. CSU Fullerton turned the shot count around in the 2nd period, outshooting ASU 7-4, notching their first goal 4:19 into the 2nd, by Troy Yano. Just over a minute later, ASU's Hayden Knight would set the lead back to 2, a 3-1 ASU lead going into the 3rd period. In the 3rd, ASU's Demitri Vavaroutsos scored to make it a 3 goal lead. CSUF fought back with a Ryan Tuckwood goal with under 3 minutes remaining in the game. ASU's Mason Parker would put the nail in the coffin with just 21 seconds left - ASU winning this matchup by a score of 5-2.

The 2 teams will face off one last time in the regular season, actually in each of their last games, on Sunday February 20 at 10am at Corona Inline in Corona, CA. Arizona State will also face Cal Poly SLO (D2), Northern Arizona (D2) and West Valley College (JC) in Corona. But first, ASU travels to Palatine, IL - near Chicago - on February 5 and 6 to face Lindenwood (D1), Michigan State (D1), Slippery Rock (D1) and Bethel (D2) . CSU Fullerton also faces Cal Poly SLO (D2) and Northern Arizona (D2) at Corona, but also travels up to Oakland, CA on February 5 to face Cal Poly SLO (D2), UC Santa Barbara (D3) and West Valley College (JC).
