WCRHL 2024-2025 Kickoff Event is in the books!

 November 5th, 2024 at 7:13PM  November 6th, 2024 1:14AM

One weekend into the WCRHL 2024-2025 regular season, and the standings in Division 1 are tied, with both Arizona State and Grand Canyon sitting at 5-0. The 2 teams will play a double-header in Peoria, AZ on November 23, and then we will see who the D1 leader is heading into the semester break. University of Arizona sits at 2-3, missing a couple key players on opening weekend, but playing some very tight, competitive games with Arizona State, Grand Canyon and CSU Fullerton. GCU features the top 4 scorers in the division and Arizona State's Jack Fox leads WCRHL D1 goaltenders with a 1.17 Goals Against Average.

Division II standings in the WCRHL show us very different Cal Poly and Fullerton teams than the 23-24 season. Fullerton has made some key additions that have made them stronger, and Cal Poly is missing a couple key players due to study abroad programs. In the one D2 head-to-head matchup this weekend, CSU Fullerton defeated Cal Poly by a score of 12-0. However, Cal Poly's Joe Shields leads WCRHL D2 scoring with 13 points, and CSU Fullerton's Samantha "Kat" Reyes leads D2 goaltenders with a 3.16 GAA.

The 3 WCRHL Division 3 teams are going to battle it out every event weekend this season. Not much differentiates these 3 teams if you look at their goal differential, however it is Cal Poly Pomona who sits at the top with 7 points, 3 points ahead of UC Santa Barbara, and 5 points ahead of Loyola Marymount. All 3 teams will be at the San Jose event in 2 weeks, but will not face each other - instead they will each face visiting Colorado State and University of Colorado, plus other D2/AA opponents. Cal Poly Pomona's Matthew Augustine leads WCRHL D3 scoring with 26 points in 5 games, followed closely by UC Santa Barbara's Brad Price with 25 points in 4 games. Newcomers Loyola Marymount feature 2 players in the top 5 scoring. Cal Poly Pomona goaltender Cameron Jeffrey leads Division 3 goaltenders in both Wins, GAA and Save %.

In the AA Division, just like Division 1, Arizona State and Grand Canyon sit tied after the first event. Both teams are 3-1-1 and have not played each other yet this season. They will face each other twice at the Peoria event in 3 weeks, along with University of Arizona AA. GCU AA's Guido Pacheco leads AA scoring and ASU AA's Miles Gurrola leads AA goaltenders with a 2.77 GAA.
